SHNobody prepared me for that.
I spent so long perfecting my personal statement, updating my CV, collecting the right experience, and then I got the role and realised that was just the door. Everything after that?
That’s on you.
The way you show up when no one’s watching. The preparation you do before meetings that no one asked for. The problems you solve before they become someone else’s emergency. The standards you hold yourself to when the job description runs out.
That’s what builds a career. Not the paper.
I’m not saying the CV doesn’t matter, it absolutely does. But I see so many early-career women put everything into getting the role and then coast once they’re in it. Or worse, they wait to be told what to do next.
Your career isn’t something that happens to you. It’s something you build. Intentionally. At your desk. On an ordinary Friday.
So the question isn’t “how do I get the job?”
It’s “who am I becoming while I’m doing it?”
Save this if you needed the reminder. And if you’re building your career on purpose, come find me, that’s exactly what we talk about here.
