Largo di Torre Argentina looks like “just ruins” in the middle of the city. But this area is linked to the Curia of Pompey, the place where Julius Caesar was assassinated on the Ides of March (44 BC). One of Rome’s biggest turning points, hiding in plain sight. 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸 🇬🇧 Julius Caesar was killed on the Ides of March 44 BC in Pompey’s Curia, near what is now Largo di Torre Argentina. The solemn funeral, as the historian Suetonius recounts, took place in the heart of the Roman Forum. Here, the wooden funeral pyre containing the body was erected in front of the Rostra, the platform from which Antony delivered his funeral oration. On the site of the pyre, in 29 BC, Emperor Augustus dedicated a temple to Caesar, now deified (Divus Julius). Unlike other places of worship, the front of the podium curved into a semicircle to accommodate a circular altar, likely placed on the very spot where the pyre had been erected. More than 2,000 years later, there are still those who leave coins, flowers, or colored ribbons on that spot to pay homage to the memory of a man who lives on within us. 👉 In your opinion, was Brutus a liberator or the person who decreed the end of the Roman Republic? 🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 📹 Video by @purposefultravelss 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸 #archeologia #archeology #fororomano #romanforum #juliuscaesar

Asterix at the Olympic Games (2008) Asterix at the Olympic Games is a live-action comedy based on the famous French comics by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. The story follows Asterix and Obelix as they travel to Greece to help their friend Alafolix win the Olympic Games and marry Princess Irina. To succeed, they must compete against the powerful and scheming Brutus, son of Julius Caesar. With magic potions, slapstick humor, and absurd challenges, the film mixes sports parody with political satire, while celebrating friendship, loyalty, and cunning over brute strength. #Asterix #Olympics #FrenchComedy #AdventureFilm #2000sMovies

POV: I time traveled to Ancient Rome in 44 BC and warned Caesar 💀. The Roman Empire is loud. The Forum is chaotic. Everyone looks important. And somehow… I ended up giving Julius Caesar life advice. I literally told him, “don’t trust Brutus.” He nodded. Smiled. Did absolutely nothing. Ancient Rome is wild. You’re walking on cobblestone streets where emperors once stood, trying to mind your business, and suddenly you’re accidentally involved in Roman political drama. History hits different when you tried to prevent it. Rome is beautiful, chaotic, dramatic — and apparently no one listens. If you love ancient Rome, Roman Empire history, Caesar drama, and chaotic POV travel… welcome to 44 BC. #travelling #history #rome #italy #timetravel

First came the death of Julia in 54 BCE — Julius Caesar’s daughter and Pompey’s wife. She was the emotional bridge between the two men. Plutarch wrote that “with her death, the bond that restrained their rivalry was dissolved.” (Life of Pompey) Then, in 53 BCE, Crassus was killed at Carrhae. His role had been balance. Cassius Dio later observed that “so long as Crassus lived, neither Caesar nor Pompey could prevail over the other.” (Roman History) With both Julia and Crassus gone, suspicion hardened into anger. Pompey aligned himself with the Senate, while Caesar’s victories in Gaul made him wealthy, popular, and threatening. The Senate demanded Caesar surrender his command. Caesar believed this was a trap. Caesar later justified his actions by claiming he was defending his dignity and political survival. Suetonius records that Caesar said he was driven by “the injustice of his enemies and the fear of being ruined if he obeyed.” (Life of Julius Caesar) Pompey, meanwhile, feared Caesar’s unchecked power. Plutarch summarizes the mood bluntly: “They had ceased to trust one another.” Ultra Apparentia #history #podcast #conspiracy #meme #myth
