With the regularization period now closed, we are moving into the enforcement phase. Action will now be taken against any illegal or non-compliant signs across the municipality. We had the opportunity to speak with Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton, Jamaica’s Minister of Health & Wellness, at the KSAMC Health Fair held at Jubilee Commercial Centre. The event, hosted in partnership with the Ministry of Health & Wellness, National Health Fund, KSA Health Department and Infinity Medical, brought vital services directly to the people — offering free blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and HIV/AIDS screenings, along with on-site doctor consultations. During the interview, Minister Tufton addressed critical national health concerns, including the rising consumption of sugary drinks, increasing obesity rates, and the broader impact on Jamaica’s healthcare system. He emphasized the importance of prevention, healthier lifestyle choices, and community-based initiatives like this health fair to combat non-communicable diseases.
