Many of us want healthier, longer, fuller hair and a healthy scalp is the foundation of length retention. Here are 4 scalp care mistakes most people don’t realize they are making👇🏽 1. Washing your hair, but not your scalp. A lot of people focus shampoo on the hair strands and assume it will “run down” to clean the scalp. It won’t clean properly that way. Your scalp needs intentional contact. Direct application, proper sectioning, and deliberate massage. Your scalp should also be treated as priority. 2. Not adjusting your wash frequency based on your lifestyle. If you sweat frequently, wear wigs often, or exercise regularly, your scalp will need more frequent cleansing. Sticking rigidly to a “once a month” wash schedule while your scalp is producing sweat and oil daily creates buildup over time, even if your hair looks fine. 3. Ignoring your hair tools. Dirty combs, brushes, bonnet linings, and wig caps transfer buildup right back onto your scalp. You can wash your hair perfectly and still feel itchy days later if your tools are not being cleaned regularly. 4. Confusing dryness with dirtiness. An itchy scalp is not always a dirty scalp. Sometimes it can be dryness or product imbalance. Immediately layering oil every time you feel discomfort can make things worse. The solution may be hydration, gentler shampoo, or better rinsing, not more oil. I noticed a lot of people compare my hair growth to before I was pregnant and forget that was over 5 years ago & I’ve done haircuts since then but my length took YEARS!
