30Garmin Marine Updates Using ActiveCaptain ⬇️
If you haven’t already, download ActiveCaptain from the App Store and pair it to your devices WiFi network. This allows for notifications, wireless updates, remote viewing and control, and registration. The update procedure below begins disconnected from the chartplotter.
In the ActiveCaptain app, select the BoatApps tab along the bottom, then select My Marine Devices to view your products.
The app will automatically search for updates. If an update is available, a Download button displays at the top.
When the download is complete, pair your phone to the device’s WiFi network. ActiveCaptain will automatically begin to transfer the software update. This could take a while. This might include chart updates, community markers, software updates, etc.
When the transfer is complete (and validated), the device will prompt to install. Select review and then install now.
When finished, the device will prompt for a restart. This will update any other Garmin connected devices through N2k, including the Kraken chartplotter (after version 2.7)
Enjoy the new features and added stability, and go try and catch a fish like the one in this video!
Note: if doing this out of the water, I recommend disabling sonar transmission, and anything else that may use water for cooling.
