EXThe Qur’an explicitly states that pain sensation is linked to the skin, saying: “Indeed, those who disbelieve in Our verses—We will burn them in a Fire. Every time their skins are burned through, We will replace them with other skins so they may taste the punishment” (Surah An-Nisāʾ 4:56), clearly indicating that when skin is destroyed, the ability to feel pain is lost and is restored only when new skin is given. Modern science confirms this concept: deep (third-degree) burns destroy nerve endings in the skin, causing a loss of pain sensation in the burned area, and pain returns only if nerves regenerate or new skin forms. Thus, the Qur’an’s description precisely aligns with the biological reality that pain perception depends on intact skin and nerves, a fact established centuries later through medical science.
