When someone tells me they had a good childhood but can’t remember it, I don’t assume they’re lying to themselves. I usually hear a nervous system that learned early on to keep moving, keep functioning, keep it together. A lot of people think memory loss only happens when something really bad or obvious happened. But sometimes it happens when you didn’t have the luxury to just be a kid. When you had to be emotionally aware, responsible, or low maintenance. When your feelings weren’t dangerous, but they also weren’t centered. Your system might have learned, “Nothing bad is happening, so I’ll just stay neutral.” And over time, neutral turns into fog. So instead of asking what happened, I’m more curious about how you learned to be. Did you learn to stay composed? To not need much? To move on quickly? To be the one who’s fine? In therapy, we don’t force memories to come back. That can actually feel intrusive. We listen to what shows up now. The way you talk about yourself. The way your body reacts when you slow down. The moments where you say “I don’t know why this is hard.” Because even when the mind doesn’t remember, the nervous system does. And we work with that gently, at your pace. Nothing about this means your childhood was bad. It just tells me your system adapted. And adaptation is intelligent. You can save this, share it with someone who’s always said “I don’t remember,” or leave a comment with a 🤍 if this felt familiar. And if you’ve ever wondered why parts of your past feel blank, you’re not alone and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. According to psychiatry, memory loss is a common response to trauma, especially in childhood. When a child experiences overwhelming fear or stress, the brain shifts into survival mode. The areas responsible for memory and reasoning, like the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex, become less active. Meanwhile, the amygdala, which processes fear, becomes hyperactive. Because of this, traumatic memories may not be stored like normal ones. They can become blurry, fragmented, or even completely blocked from awareness. This is not forgetting. It is a form of protection. Some people lose entire periods of their childhood. Others remember only flashes or body sensations. Some regain memories much later in life. All of these are normal and valid trauma responses. If your memories are unclear or missing, that does not mean you are making things up. It means your brain did what it had to do to survive❤️‍🩹

Brain fog and memory loss in young women aren’t just ‘all in your head.’ Four hidden root causes are often overlooked: 1️⃣ Hormonal birth control can alter brain chemistry and increase insulin resistance. 2️⃣ Low iron—even without anemia—disrupts focus and memory. 3️⃣ PCOS is strongly tied to insulin resistance and metabolic inflammation. 4️⃣ Insulin resistance itself damages brain networks years before diabetes shows up. Testing and addressing these root causes can restore clarity and protect long-term brain health. #memoryloss #womenshealth #pcos #insulinresistance #MagnoliaRx

😢 Interesting Fact: The Wait (2018) — The Wait is a short movie created by the Alzheimer’s Society as part of their “United Against Dementia” campaign, designed to raise awareness about how dementia can lead to sudden confusion and memory loss in public spaces. In this specific scene, the emotional impact is heightened by the reveal that the elderly man, who appears to be a stranger inquiring about the woman’s pregnancy, is actually her father who no longer recognizes her due to his condition.

If you’re thinking pulling all-nighters is the key to IB success, think again. It looks like dedication. It feels “hardcore.” It feels “necessary.” It feels like everyone else is doing it. But it’s a trap for most students. Why? Because to actually perform in the IB, you’re no longer surviving on caffeine and willpower. You need to: Think critically under pressure Recall information quickly Stay focused during long exams …all of which are impossible when you’re sleep-deprived. And what happens? Most students who skip sleep don’t get 7s. They get 5s and 6s with dark circles, zoning out in class and during exams. Meanwhile, another student prioritizes 8 hours of sleep no matter what… And wakes up sharp and ready. Same IB score on the line. One student is running on fumes and memory loss. The other is running on REM sleep and cognitive clarity. Be honest. Which one is the smarter play? Sleep is only one part of your routine, but it affects everything else. These 8 hours are non-negotiable. Not something you sacrifice to finish homework. Not something you trade for last-minute cramming. Imagine this: You studied hard all semester. You revised everything. You walk into the exam exhausted… And you blank out on a question you knew last night. That’s painful. And completely avoidable. The goal is not to impress people with how little you sleep. The goal is to build a routine that is: Sustainable long-term Focused on real performance Low burnout High return So you can show up to every exam clear-headed and ready to ace it. Play the long game. Not the “look how tired I am” game. Follow for more IB tips and tricks! #ib #highschool #study #sleep

A heartwarming video captures the moment a grandchild opens the door to her grandparents’ room and witnesses something truly touching. The grandfather dances gently to bring joy to his wife, who is battling Alzheimer’s and has forgotten who he is. Despite her memory loss, the warmth of his presence and the love in his gestures make her feel comforted and happy as she lies in bed, cared for by him every single day. Their story reflects a bond that goes beyond memory — a love that does not demand to be remembered, only to be felt. Even when names and faces fade, the connection between two hearts can remain unbroken. This husband’s devotion is a reminder that real love is not only about being recognized but about choosing to show up, care, and cherish even when nothing is given in return. #heartwarming #alzheimers #lastdays #marriagegoals #insicknessandinhealth
