If you are living with hypermobility, fibromyalgia, or chronic pain, and you keep wondering whether a mobility aid might help, then this video is for you. Mobility aids are not giving up they are tools that can improve your quality of life and even support your rehab. Walking sticks, scooters, and wheelchairs can help you move with less pain more confidence and more freedom. 2026 is the year you stop worrying about other peoples opinions and start doing what actually helps you feel better. Your wellbeing matters and you deserve support that works for you. #chronicpain #hypermobility #fibromyalgia #mobilityaids #qualityoflife

Disability Myths vs Reality What disability myths do you still hear that need busting? Let me know in the comments! Today we are breaking down some of the most common misconceptions about disability and what the reality actually looks like. 1. “If you really need a mobility aid, you would use it all the time.” Reality: Disability is not consistent. Many disabled people use different aids on different days or for different situations. Someone might walk short distances, use a wheelchair outside, or need mobility aids only when symptoms flare. Using an aid sometimes does not make someone “less disabled.” No one used a wheelchair in bed! (do not try it at home!) 2. “It’s easy to get support if you’re disabled & people fake disability for benefits.” Reality: Accessing support is often long, confusing, and exhausting. Finding out what help exists, completing applications, attending assessments and chasing responses can take months or years. The admin alone can be a full-time job. Most support does not even cover the extra costs of being disabled, let alone provide comfort or ease. 3. “Disabled people are lazy or rely too much on others.” Reality: Many disabled people push themselves far beyond safe limits just to be taken seriously. We problem-solve constantly, adapt everything and often overwork ourselves to prove we are capable. Needing support is not the same as being lazy and independence does not mean doing everything alone. 4. “Being disabled means life is miserable or over.” Reality: Disability is often shown as the worst possible outcome in TV, films & workplace training. While being disabled can be incredibly hard, it is not the absence of joy. Many of us experience deep, meaningful, joyful lives. Life may not look how we once imagined, but that does not make it less valuable or less full. If this helped you understand disability a little better, please save this post so you can come back to it, and share it if someone in your life needs to read it. And if you are disabled and reading this: your experience is real, valid & not up for debate. #DisabilityEducation #DisabilityMths #DisabledVoices

Happy International Wheelchair Day! I will be forever grateful for the PT who looked at me and said: “Nope. You’re not allowed to try to walk through the airport for this trip. It’s time to talk about a wheelchair to get you back into life so you can be with your family.” Huge shoutout to @pwr_physio - the first healthcare provider’s office who helped me understand what it looks like to accept some limits so I can push others. ❤️ #ambulatorywheelchairuser #pots #mecfs Alt text: “Don’t get a wheelchair - you’ll get so deconditoned!” (Video shows a woman in a wheelchair leaving a store) Before the wheelchair: (video sequence of woman laying down, looking unwell over many different scenes) With the wheelchair: (woman in wheelchair at wedding, Speaking at events, playing shuffleboard, smiling, laughing, exercising) Wheelchairs don’t cause deconditioning. Burnout and injury from not using the right mobility aid does.

Street clutter is so dangerous for blind people like me. Yes, this may have just been one bike but you have seen my other videos where I come up against obstacles on the pavement all the time and I feel so scared. It makes it impossible to remember routes if there are unexpected barriers. This on top of signs, outdoor seating areas, cars, motorbikes and other street clutter that block the pavement frequently make a local walk impossible for someone like me who uses a mobility aid. Coming across these things could be the difference between me actually completing the journey and getting to where I need to go or just turning round and going back home. As you guys saw a good few months back now, I was attending a meeting at the BBC and there were so many bikes in the way when I was trying to cross the road I just couldn’t get by. Thankfully, I had my lovely husband and my team meeting me but what if I was on my own? - 61% of blind and partially sighted people say they cannot make all the journeys they want or need to. - Only 9% strongly agree they feel safe making independent walking journeys in their neighbourhood. - 73% said there are roads in their area too unsafe to cross due to lack of accessible pedestrian crossings. - 34% have collided with a street obstacle in the last three months; 11% of those required hospital treatment. As an RNIB ambassador I am speaking out and have put my name on a forward for their new Pedestrians Report. Share this post with everyone you know and get behind this fabulous work so we can call out governments and local authorities to do better. Audio description: Lucy stands on a London Street. She wears black pinstriped trousers, a black top and a black knitted cardigan with black shoes with a gold buckle on the front. In front of her and guide dog Miss Molly is a bike parked sideways across the pavement. She could just about get by but it makes it harder to move around.

✨Trying out the Elenker upright walker!✨ This mobility aid comes in a variety of colors and mine is a deep sparkly red! The forearm support helped me stand a little longer, the seat feels sturdy (I’m 5’10, around 160 lbs), and the pouch is perfect for stashing my adaptive beauty tools for touch-ups 💄♿️ Have you ever tried an upright walker before? . #elenker #mobilityaid #uprightwalker #spinalcordinjury #disabled #disabledmodel #ad

I’ve travelled to 46 countries, and smart gates have never worked for me. Until today in Dubai! At @dxb, I finally experienced what seamless travel feels like — no separate lines, no counters too high to see over and no awkward moments. Just innovation designed for more than just an average height person, and a little celebration by all who gathered with me with bated breath to see if it would work. This is what leading the future of accessibility looks like - and watch this space mobility aid and wheelchair users, they haven’t forgotten about you either. Thank you @dxb @gdrfadubai for setting the standard and being truly world-class. ✈️ For reference; I’m 116cm which is about the height of a four year old. 31 wheelchairs are lost or mishandled a DAY by airlines. I’m partnering with @changedotorg to raise awareness and to show Washington that this isn’t acceptable. #Sponsored 31? Yep, you heard that right. and if you didn’t think it could get worse, it does.  In a recent filing ( Sept 29, 2025), the Department of Transportation said that they will not enforce the requirements imposing the airlines liability for mishandled wheelchairs, amongst other accommodations for disabled passengers: - notifying passengers about their rights - providing reimbursement for fare differences due to flight changes when a mobility aid can’t fit on a plane  - customizations for loaner mobility devices Why is this happening? Well, the rules that protected us were made by the old administration and the new administration doesn’t like that. Rules get changed when administrations change, that’s normal.  The fact of the matter here is that my rights as a disabled person shouldn’t change every time the administration does. There shouldn’t just be a changeable rule protecting our rights, but a law!  So what can you do? I made a change.org petition to start the conversation about our rights deserving to be protected by law 1. Together we need to raise awareness that our protections are being taken away from us 2. and we need to show all of Washington DC that this isn’t acceptable. Uniting to sign a petition is a great start at that and a huge way that YOU can help create the change we need. Sign & Share (link in bio)!! I want to be clear with you, while this is a partnership that I was paid for, this is our story and cause. Something I have advocated online, with different organizations, and on Capitol Hill for, for years. When Change.org approached me about this partnership, I chose to make my petition about this cause. I ask you to sign this because our rights shouldn’t be determined by a changeable rule. We deserve our rights on flights to be the law of the land. It’s ironic, because over the years whenever I post a video of myself walking, I get comments from people telling me I shouldn’t walk and that I’m going to hurt myself. But, when I post a video using Scootz, I get comments saying that I’m lazy and need to get up and walk. The lesson here for me is that literally everyone will have an opinion about what you should or shouldn’t be doing, but only you know what is best for yourself and your specific needs. If you feel more safe, comfortable or empowered to do things by using a mobility aid: use it. Cerebral Palsy is complex because every day can look and feel differently. For me, some days I thrive on my own and some days I thrive with the help of my walker or Scootz. No matter which type of day I’m having, something that does NOT help is hearing negative comments about what I’m using or not using to help me get around. Let’s normalize using what we need, without judgement from others. 💚

Have you been searching for a mobility device that offers more versatility than a traditional walker or wheelchair? The Zeen mobility device is a multifunctional mobility aid that combines the best features of both… empowering you to sit, stand, walk, or coast based on what your day demands. As this demonstration shows, the Zeen is designed to support people facing challenges with their strength, balance, and endurance, helping them stand up from sitting to standing and walk safely without fear of falling. What makes the Zeen truly unique is its adaptability. Unlike a walker that requires constant grip strength and upper body support, or a wheelchair that limits upright mobility, the Zeen provides comprehensive support throughout your day. You can walk upright with hands-free mobility when you have the energy, coast to conserve strength during longer outings, and when fatigue sets in, a caregiver can push the Zeen similar to a wheelchair… giving you the flexibility to rest while still participating in your daily activities. Why the Zeen is more than a walker or wheelchair: 🔶 Multifunctional Design – Sit, stand, walk, or coast based on your needs in the moment ⬆️ Upright Mobility – Walk while fully supported with natural posture 👐 Hands-Free Support – Unlike a traditional walker that requires you to grip with both hands, users can move in the Zeen with their hands free 🛡️ Built-In Fall Prevention – Stay stable and secure throughout all your favorite activities 🔶 Assistive Lift Technology – Rise from sitting to standing with support for up to 75% of your body weight 🤝 Caregiver Assistance Option – Can be pushed by a caregiver when you need rest, combining the benefits of a wheelchair when needed Ready to see how the Zeen’s multifunctional design could support your lifestyle?
