NIEveryone wants to be a model until they find out:
1. Work isn’t guaranteed. There are some months where I have 0 jobs booked which means 0 income (which is why I have another job). And there are other months where I have projects and auditions lined up consistently.
2. It can be very difficult to make plans because you never know when you’ll get an audition or get booked for an assignment.
3. You often don’t get paid for up to 90 days after your assignment
4. It’s a very competitive industry but can also be very supportive & uplifting (my view is: we’re all working towards the same things. Why not support each other? The best person fro the role will get it regardless)
5. You can have some VERY LONG DAYS, and you’re expected to stay until you’re done shooting what you need to shoot. I once stayed on a shoot until 3:30AM that was supposed to end by 4:30PM.
With all of that said, if you love what you do, it doesn’t matter. I absolutely love every second of my job, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything! When you love what you do, it really doesn’t feel like work at all🫶
