DR📸: Back in November 2025, the Russian company Neiry demonstrated biodrones in the form of pigeons with implanted neurochips, allowing operators to remotely control the flight of the birds. Tasks are loaded into the pigeon’s brain in a similar way to drones, stimulating certain areas of the brain, as a result of which the bird independently navigates to the desired direction.
The founder of Neiry, Alexander Panov, noted that for now, the technology is being tested exclusively on pigeons, but the system is planned to be scaled up and applied to other types of birds. For example, crows will become carriers of heavy objects, gulls will be used for monitoring coastal areas, and albatrosses will provide surveillance over large water bodies. As reported.
