APLet’s talk nerves ⚡️
EMG (Electromyography) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) test how well your nerves and muscles are communicating.
Here’s what they evaluate:
🧠 Nerve function – how well electrical signals travel through a nerve
💪 Muscle activity – how muscles respond when the nerve sends a signal
📍 Location of nerve irritation or compression – pinpointing exactly where the issue is
⚡ Severity of nerve damage – whether the nerve is mildly irritated or more significantly affected
It’s commonly used to diagnose things like:
• Pinched nerves (from the neck or back)
• Peripheral nerve entrapments (carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, etc.)
• Radiculopathy (nerve root irritation)
• Muscle disorders
• Nerve injuries
Grateful for the opportunity to spend the weekend with students from FGCU, sharing how powerful EMG can be in understanding the nervous system and getting patients the answers they need. 💪🏻
