JODream home… Sorted ✅
We are not home building experts, but we worked with several third party specialists to build as low toxic of a home as we could, and wanted to share what we did in hopes it could help others.
The intention of this post is to point out some things to be aware of when building, and other things that can be added to any home whether it’s a new build or not. We certainly did not build a perfect home, but we made an effort and did the best we could.
A huge one when building is prioritizing low to no VOC materials. These chemicals are found in paints, stains, glues/adhesives, insulation, flooring, etc and can pose short and long term health risks. It’s very difficult and costly to avoid them entirely, but try opting for low/no VOC materials where you can.
We also invested in a whole home water purification system from @enevivewater . This ensures the cleanest water possible throughout our home. They have several options to work with various budgets, and can customize what is best suited for your needs. In our opinion, this is one of the best investments you can possibly make.
Our circadian lighting is from @thehealthyhome.shop . These flicker free lights have three different modes to go from blue light during the day, to a warmer light towards sunset, and red light when the sun is down. Your light environment is one of the most overlooked components to living a healthier lifestyle.
These are just a handful of things we did. We will post more of what we did as well as the finished product once we close next month.
Let us know any questions and we will do our best to help 🤝
