You’ll hear dating after divorce advice like:
💕 love yourself first
💕 set boundaries
💕 find someone different than your ex
💕 be patient
🛑 But that’s not what I’m talking about.
You absolutely cannot have a healthy relationship after your divorce if you are unable to give your new partner more time than your ex.
You’re probably like “duh, I don’t spend time with my ex.” 🚫 But that’s not what I mean.
How much time do you spend:
❌ venting about your ex?
❌ responding to their texts right away?
❌ worrying about what they think?
❌ spiraling over an accusation they made?
Every time you do one of those things, you are giving your ex more time, energy and attention than your new partner. Your ex deserves the bare minimum of your time. I know it’s hard. But they are your ex for a reason.
They aren’t owed your time, your energy, your justifications, your sadness or your effort.
Put your time and energy into those who matter most.
