I started my journey at The Oberoi Group in 2008 as an associate of the Systematic Training and Education Programme (STEP), an on-the-job training programme which teaches you the foundation, the very basics of every minute detail in a hotel. The first few months jetted by and before I knew it, I had fallen in love with running a hotel. I was far from knowing this art but the determination and perseverance to achieve perfection in everything we touched is something I got addicted to. The programme does not just impart technical knowledge and its practical applicability, it also focuses on situation handling, formal communication, people management and personality development. I felt I found my calling. I finished my graduation and the STEP programme in 2011. After spending 10 months in Mumbai, I got selected into OCLD for a two-year diploma in Guest Service Management. I was cautioned during the selection process that the easiest part about OCLD was getting selected in the programme. I didn’t think this statement could be true but stood corrected within the first month. In 2017 the iconic The Oberoi New Delhi opened vacancies for internal candidates as the hotel was preparing to re-open in 2018. Hoping to be a part of the historic re-opening of our flagship hotel, I shared my intent for transfer to New Delhi with our management. In July 2017, I moved to New Delhi. This was my first pre-opening assignment, and I was extremely fortunate to be allocated as the Bar Manager. I moved on to the role of Banquet Manager followed by being the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager. In 2023, I moved back to Mumbai to pre-open The Oberoi Group’s latest stand-alone restaurant, Amadeo By Oberoi.
