If we weren’t clear enough in earlier social media posts, Surrons are illegal in San Clemente. Any Surron rider can be cited for having no license, no registration, no insurance and possibly reckless driving or evading. Our deputies have and will continue to write tickets and impound these electric motorcycles. “What’s the big deal?” First, we have young kids ignoring the rules of the road and performing dangerous stunts on the roadway. Secondly, these kids also engage in reckless and criminal behavior while they are riding these Surrons. Finally, as of late, this is our number one complaint among San Clemente residents. To all parents: If your child owns and rides a Surron in San Clemente, you could be charged with furnishing a vehicle to a minor…a misdemeanor crime [Penal Code 14604 (a)]. Also, if your child is cited for having no license this could potentially affect their ability to obtain their learner’s permit or driver’s license in the future. #OCSD #SanClemente

“The solution to pollution is dilution.” That phrase has been a long standing best practice within the Haz-Mat community. This morning, Bomb/Hazmat technicians were presented with a unique challenge when explosive detection canine “Mack” went toe-to-toe with a Mephitidae (skunk). During a seemingly harmless game of fetch, Mack abruptly returned to his handler carrying a familiar but pungent stench. Technical reference research was conducted, a decontamination solution was created, and PPE was donned. Mack received a thorough cleanse via garden hose. That, coupled with a fresh bowl of water and some fresh air, seemed to have remedied the situation. Needless to say, Mack should have trusted his in-stinks. #hazmat #ocsd #bombdog #hazmatnation #gsp

While the truck provided cover for the crew, 85’s firefighters got the pair to a nearby gas station.
