MAAs part of the science-art #CreativeEurope #TheBigGreen project - @proprogressione partners within the @hateggeoparc
Today I held a workshop at the House of the Geopark in Hațeg in collaboration with @maria_luiza_tanasescu, coordinated by @t.cristinatoma, with the participation of artist-in-residence @deidrematthee
This year, my work explores the relationship between WATER, plants, and paper—as a way of understanding ecology, community, and connection.
Together, along with the geopark team of volunteers we:
🌿 made handmade paper from alder, mushrooms and plants gathered from the riverbanks
🔬 observed the water under microscope
💧 tested the pH of Strei water also mixed with paper pulp
🌊 talked about water pollution caused by the paper industry
We also imagined ourselves differently:
On the handmade paper, volunteers created self-portraits as water microorganisms—tiny, often invisible life forms that exist within these waters. These drawings will come together as part of a recycled textile-paper installation, to be presented later this year.
In a place where many stories about rivers speak of gold, we asked:
🏷What if the real gold is already here?
Imagining plants and water are the gold—living, regenerative, and shared.
With care, attention, and human energy, they become:
Communication, culture, connection
As a way of revealing the invisible waters that shape everything around us—and within us.
