BLAnd that’s not a dig—it’s a reality.
Postpartum mental health is its own world. It requires more than just general training in anxiety or depression.
There’s a big difference between a therapist who means well and one who truly understands things like:
— Intrusive thoughts vs. actual risk
— Mom rage and the weight of the invisible load
— The grief that can come with becoming a mom
— How hormones, identity shifts, and sleep deprivation change everything
That’s why I chose to pursue my PMHC (Perinatal Mental Health Certification)—because new moms deserve care from someone who is trained in what they’re going through.
This certification means I’ve had extra training in pregnancy, postpartum, fertility, loss, and everything in between.
Because when you’re in the thick of it, the last thing you need is to educate your therapist on what you’re going through.
