This technique works So well ....
Reflex Inhibitory Posturing (The Thumb Trick)
In many stroke patients, the thumb is tucked into the palm ("thumb-in-palm" deformity) which locks the other fingers in place.
The Technique: Instead of pulling on the fingers first, focus solely on the thumb. Gently pull the thumb out and away from the palm (abduction).
Why it works: Once the thumb is relaxed and moved away, the tension in the other four fingers often decreases significantly, making them easier to open.
