Short Rib Croquettes - £6 nice but the chicken wings stole the show for starters! Mains: Chateaubriand - £15 per 100g absolutely perfect, cooked to perfection and tasted sooo good! My mum got the fire roasted chicken which she loved - £18.95 (comes with chips) Sides (all £6.95) Mac & Cheese this was 10/10. So so soooo good. Ember Baked Potato insaneeee! Must try! Soooo good! Cows that eat grains instead of grass–what they would eat if living naturally–and have no pasture in sight. They are also given growth hormones and antibiotics to make sure they gain enough weight and don’t get sick. Organic and grass-fed beef is not only less toxic but also nutritionally better for consumption. It is lower in fat, higher in vitamin E and B-vitamins, and contains a healthier ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids (1.65 to 4.84). If you’re going to have your occasional meat, make sure it’s organic, grass-fed, and ideally local. Well, I'm really not sure how to make this topic an exciting one 😅 BUT it's been a question many of you have asked me. — Horse Pasture Management 🐴 Well, I’m really not sure how to make this topic an exciting one 😅 BUT it’s been a question many of you have asked me. First, let me start off by saying that our horse pastures are newly established and were previously heavily wooded areas on our property, so they are still very much a work in progress. With that said, here are 3 key things we do to manage our horse pastures: 1. Soil Testing - each year we have the soil tested in our pastures. We do this through our local county extension office. In doing so, we receive a detailed report on what specific nutrients our soil lacks/needs. This helps guide us as to how much lime and fertilizer we need to put down each season. 2. Rotational Grazing - earlier this year we added a 2nd horse pasture which now allows us to rotate the horses between pastures (we have plans to add a 3rd pasture next year). Resting pastures is crucial for the overall health of the grass. It also prevents overgrazing, which depletes nutrients in the grass. 3. Weed Control - in addition to mowing, we use an herbicide (as needed) called Grazon Next HL, which has no grazing restrictions and came recommended to us by several other horse owners. Beyond these steps, the key element with establishing & maintaining horse pastures is PATIENCE. With a little time + TLC, your horse pastures will continue to get stronger each year. For starters we got the short rib — I have been dying to go to @pasture_birmingham ever since it opened and finally got to go to celebrate my birthday! For starters we got the short rib croquettes, smoked beef carpaccio, crab toast and the char siu pork belly. The croquettes and the crab toast, gimme 14 of them (!), I wasn’t a massive fan of the beef carpaccio and the char siu pork belly had a great crisp to the skin but the flavouring was not really char siu. For mains, I got a tomahawk and I asked for it to be cooked medium rare but it came out too rare - you can see this in my video. The accompanying sauces (peppercorn and chimichurri) were very very good! For sides we ordered the mac and cheese, seasonal greens and some fries. Usually mac and cheese can be bland but this was very solid! The food service was disappointing as we only ordered a handful of starters and mains but were in the restaurant for 3.5 hours. It was a Saturday night but considering its booking only, the food service was ridiculously slow and the wait between starters to mains was over an hour (after a 45 min wait for starters). I did have to ask twice how long the food was going to be.
