If your daughter started her period tomorrow, this is what she does (and doesn’t) need to hear from you 🫶🏻 And here is why these common responses don’t help her and what you can say instead 👇 ❌“You’re a woman now” She’s not a woman. She’s still a child whose body is changing. Calling her a “woman” could put pressure on her to grow up faster than she’s ready for and can make this milestone feel overwhelming instead of manageable. ⭐️What to say instead: “Your body is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do, you are always evolving at every age. You’re still you - just with a period now. Let’s talk about why this change is happening now” ❌“Pain is normal” While some cramping can be common, telling her “pain is normal” teaches her to accept suffering without question. It stops her from advocating for herself if something genuinely feels wrong. ⭐️What to say instead: “Some girls get cramps and some don’t. If you do and they’re bothering you, we’ll figure out how best to help you feel more comfortable.” ❌“It’s not a big deal” To HER, it IS a big deal. Her body just did something completely new and possibly scary. Dismissing her experience tells her that her feelings don’t matter. ⭐️What to say instead: “This is a big milestone and it makes sense if it feels like a lot right now. A fact I ♥️ about the female body. Most wounds take 4–6 weeks to repair & leave a scar. Yet during menstruation (or the period), the lining of the womb is shed and it goes through similar repair and regeneration like any healing process in the body except that it happens within 5 days, it leaves no scars and it happens over and over again for decades (450-500 times!) I didn’t always appreciate my body - I don’t always appreciate it & I still experience conflicted feelings about my cycle but each month when it starts over I try to focus on how beautiful and amazing this whole process is - and how incredible my body is. Follow these step STEP 1 # After you take off pad,Soak immediately in cold water for 30min(avoid hot water other wise it will leave stains on your pad) STEP 2# Rinse until the water runs clear after soaking part(if you pre soak cloth pad you will need less water to rinse so this will help you save water) STEP 3#I use soapnut infused bioezyme to wash my pads and it cleans them well.Yes it’s the best eco friendly and cost effective liquid soap I have ever tried.I add 30ml of soapnut infused bioezym in a tumbler and soak it for 10min and wash with water thoroughly afterwards. I have noticed powders leaves the residue and clog the pad and further reduce its absorption capacity and hence I have switch to this natural liquid cleanser fully for my cloth pads.And I have also noticed this solution also soften the fabric STEP 4 # Always dry them well in sun and this is most important step. #susatinability #plasticfreemenstruation #greenmenstruation #ecoliving #clothpad #menstruation #menstruationmatters #safemenstruation #periods #periodproblems #periodpositive
