What does spaceflight have in common with ageing? 👨‍🚀 Astronauts face muscle loss, weaker bones and changes to their immune system - much like what happens as we grow older. But here’s the twist: in space, most of these effects are reversible. Why does this matter? Because understanding how our bodies adapt to space not only protects astronauts, it could also reveal new insights into ageing here on Earth. The research was published in The FASEB Journal (DOI: 10.1096/fj.202402989R). If you’re curious, search for that exact code - it’ll take you straight to the paper. 📹 @europeanspaceagency 🎞️ @uni_magdeburg – Daniela Grimm; ESA - @astro_andreas; ESA/@NASA - @astro_timpeake; ESA/NASA - S.Cristoforetti; NASA; ESA - @astro_slawosz; ESA/NASA - @esamatthiasmaurer; ESA / Life & Physical Science, Instrumentation and Life Support Laboratory, TEC-MMG Department; S.v.Rijthoven; ESA - @esaastro_marcus; ESA/NASA - @astro_alex_esa 📸 Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg – Daniela Grimm

If Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang were a student today, he says he'd focus on the physical sciences. ➡️ During a trip to Beijing on Wednesday, Huang was asked by a journalist: "If you are a 22-year-old version of Jensen [who] just graduated today in 2025 but with the same ambition, what would you focus on?" ➡️ To that, the Nvidia CEO said: "For the young, 20-year-old Jensen, that's graduated now, he probably would have chosen ... more of the physical sciences than the software sciences," adding that he actually graduated two years early from college, at age 20. So what is physical science? Read more at our link in bio to learn more about it.

🎥”Hidden Figures”. Mary Jackson’s ambition isn’t loud or reckless, it’s focused, intelligent, and unshakable. Despite already holding strong degrees in mathematics and physical science, NASA’s rules demand advanced engineering courses taught only at an all-white high school. Instead of accepting the system as immovable, Mary studies it, understands it, and decides to challenge it, not with anger, but with strategy. Guided by Dorothy Vaughan’s wisdom, Mary petitions the court and delivers one of the film’s most powerful arguments. She doesn’t ask for pity. She presents history. She reminds the judge that progress has always required a first, just as Alan Shepard was about to become one. Her words are calm, respectful, and devastatingly logical: she cannot change her skin color, but she can change history if allowed the chance. Permission granted, Mary earns her place not just as NASA’s first Black female engineer, but as a symbol of persistence done right. Her success, alongside Katherine Johnson and Dorothy Vaughan, becomes part of the invisible backbone behind America’s space victories. Hidden Figures makes it clear: rockets don’t reach space on fuel alone, they rise on courage, intellect, and people brave enough to insist they belong. 🚀 DM for credit or removal request (no copyright intended) © All rights and credits reserved to the respective owners).
