THWhich is best for 🐶 AirTag or PitPat? ⤵️
My worst nightmare would be losing Piccolina - especially as a new rescue, she could easily bolt or lose her bearings…
So when @pitpatpet asked us to try out the PitPat Dog GPS Tracker & the @apple AirTag to see which worked best at finding her, I was excited to put them to the test. Here’s what I found…
𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗣𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗴 𝗚𝗣𝗦 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿
🟢 No Subscription Fees - Price: £149 (you can get £30 off until 02 July)
🟢 It has worked every time so far in London (city & woods), the New Forest & Cambridge countryside
🟢 I could share access to my partner/family (Apple or Android devices)
🟢 It’s waterproof
🟢 Comes in five colours & includes straps
🟢 It’s also an activity tracker
🟡 Uses Satellite, so takes a few mins to connect but then accurate
🟡 Only finds your dog outdoors
🟡 Some people told me it hasn’t worked for them where they live - but PitPat do give you 21 days to try it out
𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗧𝗮𝗴
🟢 No Subscription Fees - Price: £35
🟢 Finds your dog indoors/outdoors
🔴 AirTag is NOT recommended by Apple to track pets
🔴 Uses Bluetooth, so can only find your dog when another Apple device is within about 10m/33ft
🔴 It works if you’re in a busy place, otherwise, it is pretty much useless at finding your dog
🔴 It can only be accessed by one user (with an Apple device)
🟡 It’s water-resistant
🟡 You need to buy an AirTag collar or collar attachment
I’d seen lots of dog owners using an AirTag, so I was pretty shocked when I realised that unless I lose my dog in the middle of a busy place, I wouldn’t be finding Piccolina anytime soon 😱
Of course there are other tracker brands out there, but based on our experience using the @apple AirTag & the @pitpatpet Dog GPS Tracker, I’m afraid I would never trust the AirTag to find Piccolina 😕
