There is an art to sending postcards.
The effort behind choosing one, writing it by hand, finding a stamp,and praying it reaches the other person. I feel this form of connection has faded away.
I really hope we don’t let this habit die.
I even heard a rumour that postboxes might be discontinued someday and that thought honestly hurts. (Its not true, they are only getting modernised)
Where did those times go?
In my school, making Christmas cards was a mandatory activity. Our school would post them to our own homes, and we’d receive them during Christmas holidays.
The joy of eagerly waiting for that card to arrive… I don’t think I can ever explain that feeling.
Today, the only deliveries we eagerly wait for seem to be shopping orders or visa updates.
I heard about Postcrossing from @tssevvel @namveedu_namoor_namkadhai maam a while ago and it’s such a beautiful idea that I never knew existed.
Postcrossing is a global postcard exchange project where strangers from different countries connect through real mail.💌
Can you believe it? You send a postcard to someone in a foreign country, and you receive one back from a complete stranger elsewhere in the world.
And the cool part is it hardly costs ₹15 (International stamp rate) or even less to send to some neighbouring countries. You just need to buy a postcard, find the address of your penpal through Postcrossing and voila.. you just made an international friend!
Strangers. Postcards. Stories.
Maybe bringing back postcards isn’t about nostalgia.
Maybe it’s about choosing to slow down and hold on to connections that once felt more human.
