Your shot arsenal wins games. 🏆 Front-leg wrist shots and snap shots give you more power and let you sell deception by changing angles and loading through your body. Off-leg wrist shots and snap shots give you a quick release when time is limited and space is tight. Slap shots bring pure power and force defenders and goalies to deal with your range. Backhand shots add a dangerous offhand threat, making goalies respect that you don’t always need to move to your forehand to score. When you can shoot with power, speed, and deception from different stances and situations, defenders can’t read you and goalies can’t get set. Build all six shots into your game and you’ll score more when it matters most. 🔥

Wrist shot vs Snap shot — know the difference. A wrist shot comes from pulling the puck and loading the stick through your hands and body. A snap shot creates that pop sound when you press your blade into the ice and snap the puck using the stick’s flex — fast release, almost no preparation, hard to read for goalies. If you combine a snap shot with a toe drag release, the stick loads even more and creates a dangerous, explosive shot. Learn how to press into the ice properly and your stick will do the work for you. Quick release. More deception. More goals. 📌 Proper shot management starts with understanding your stance. In this clip, we look at the difference between a low stance and a tall stance, and why both are important depending on the situation. A low stance is typically used when the play is close and the shot threat is immediate. It lowers the center of gravity and allows for quicker reactions to shots. A tall stance is used when there is no immediate shot threat. It allows the goaltender to maintain better vision of the play, stay patient, and move more efficiently as the situation develops. Good goaltending is not about staying in one stance all the time — it’s about reading the play and adjusting based on the level of danger. The ability to manage these details consistently leads to better shot management and rebound control. 📈 #Goaltending #GoalieTraining #GoalieCoach #GoalieDevelopment #IceHockey

Working on eyes first, head following and maintaining visual attachment on the blocker side. With a sports vision training sometimes we get in the habit of just working the glove side, it is as important to develop the eye hand coordination on the blocker side, both with vision drills, blocker drills and just catching drills. This is important for goalies as young as 9-10 years old up to goalies in the NHL to build consistency! Teams and athletes that invest in sports vision training for their goalies will notice an improvement in performance and consistency. *disclaimer if you aren’t an experience tennis or pickleball player don’t try this without the goalie wearing proper equipment (mask) #hockey #goalie #nhl #edmontonoilers #whl
