KUKuno welcomes five new cubs!!
Female cheetah Jwala has given birth to five healthy cubs, marking another incredible milestone for Kuno National Park.
With this new litter, the total number of cheetahs in India has now reached 53, out of which 50 are in Kuno.
This is not just a number, it is a symbol of hope, dedication, and the relentless efforts of MoEFCC, Madhya Pradesh Forest Department, conservationists, local field staff and everyone involved in the ambitious Project Cheetah.
Each cub born on Indian soil is a step forward in restoring a species that once vanished from the country.
Congratulations to everyone on reaching the milestone of 50 cheetahs in Kuno, a proud chapter in the story of wildlife conservation. The journey continues, and the wild heart of India grows stronger with every new life.

VI24 villages were cleared and over 1,500 families relocated to create space at Kuno.
Many were Sahariya Adivasi communities who lost land and access to forests.
Since the cheetahs arrived in 2022, multiple animals have died from infections, injuries, mating fights and management complications.
And several have repeatedly moved out of the park.
At some point you have to ask what exactly the metric is.

INIndian-born cheetah Mukhi has made history by giving birth to five cubs at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, marking a significant achievement in India’s cross-continent cheetah restoration project.
