If you’re confused about what you need to do to finally overcome insomnia, and you don’t understand why nothing works, you’re not alone. My life and sleep changed forever when a sleep doctor changed how I viewed insomnia. I call him my unicorn sleep doctor because he’s unlike any other sleep doctor out there. �And what he taught me is something I was never taught from all the professionals I went to for help. What he taught me was that most sleep solutions approach chronic insomnia wrong. When you have chronic insomnia, your brain is stuck in danger mode every single night, activating the fight-or-flight system, which keeps you awake more and more over time. Yes, there can be things like hormone imbalances or other things that disrupt sleep. �But when insomnia lasts a long time and you’re losing hours of sleep, that’s your brain stuck in fight or flight. Most sleep solutions out there aren’t addressing the brain stuck in danger mode which is why nothing seems to work. That’s why nothing worked for me for 29 years. You’re not broken.�It’s just the wrong approach. What he taught me is that the key to overcoming insomnia and finally recovering is helping your brain feel safe again so it can let go of fight or flight. �That’s the key to long-term recovery and what changed my sleep.
