THIt’s not a Robin Red Breast - it’s a Robin Red Face!
(It’s lucky I remembered my binoculars case.)

Last month we took part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch but only saw a robin, a blackbird and a couple of ducks (but the ducks didn’t count because they’re our pets). One of the robins looked very odd, so I went out into the fields near our house this week and spotted him again. Lucky Al had done a very accurate drawing of his face. Err - okay - so, in actual fact I’ve featured this face drawing twice before, but think it’s quite funny so used it again.
Anyway - RSPB stands for The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, a UK charity that doesn’t just look after birds, but also carries out conservation work to help protect habitats, save species, and ultimately try to slow the impact for the climate emergency. Now, apparently, in its 44th year, The Big Garden Birdwatch is a nationwide survey that anyone in the UK can get involved in to help the charity build the picture of how bird numbers are changing over the years. I’ve been a bit busy these past few weeks so didn’t manage to do a post when the birdwatch was actually happening, but if you do want to get involved next year, make a note in your diary for January 2024!
