Happy Sunday! ☀️ What better place to talk about a beach read than the beach itself?! I’m on vacation, so today’s post is a little different than my usual flatlays - a quick video from my current location! I just finished Beach Read by Emily Henry, and it truly was the perfect book to bring along for a day by the water. The story follows January, an author who moves into her father’s secret beach house after he unexpectedly passes away. And who ends up living next door? None other than her former college rival, Gus… who also happens to be a writer. Keeping this spoiler-free, but I really loved the emotional depth in this story. It explores grief, life after loss, the complexity of people, and the challenge of choosing happiness even when it feels risky. The characters felt incredibly real, and the romance woven through the story made it such a lovely read. This was my first Emily Henry book, but it definitely won’t be my last! I’m thinking about returning to the bookstore after today’s beach adventures to pick up Book Lovers. 📚 How’s your weekend going? Have you fallen in love with any new stories lately? P.S. you know I had to get the special edition of this one 😂 it’s so pretty! Solidly on Team Any Book is a Beach Read if You Read It on the Beach. Yeah it’s a long team name, we’re workshopping it. But you get the gist. I think sometimes we put obstacles in our own way in an effort to fit a picture we have in our minds of how It Should Be. And because that’s how a book was marketed. But guess what, any book you’re enjoying is a good beach read. The book doesn’t have to have a tropical setting or be a light rom-com to be an appropriate Beach Book. Yesterday when we hit the beach, I read the last 30% of an eARC I’ve had for 6 months and finally got around to reading 😂. It was not at all beachy in any way and it was still So. Good. (It was Lady Tremaine btw!) Also can I just say the world can be judgy about books considered “Beach Reads” as if they are not valuable in a way that other books are? See January’s rant about Women’s Fiction in the appropriately titled Beach Read by Emily Henry. What do y’all read at the beach? #bookstagram #beachreads #readthebook
