DAYour voice is one of your greatest tools in public speaking — and just like any tool, it needs sharpening.
In today’s video, I’m sharing 3 simple but powerful ways to train and take care of your voice, so you can speak clearly, confidently, and with impact.
Tip 1: Practise with tongue twisters.
Tongue twisters aren’t just fun — they help with articulation, clarity, and vocal agility. Start slow, then speed up. Try classics like “Red lorry, yellow lorry” or “She sells seashells by the seashore.” You’ll find your speech becoming crisper and more controlled over time.
Tip 2: Take care of your vocal health.
Hydrate well — warm water is best. Avoid straining your voice, especially after long speaking sessions. And give your voice time to rest. A healthy voice is a powerful voice.
Tip 3: Practise saying it out loud.
Thinking your speech is not the same as speaking it. Reading your script aloud helps you catch awkward phrasing, find natural pauses, and get comfortable with delivery. The more you practise aloud, the more confident and polished you’ll sound on stage.
Your voice deserves care and training — because it’s the bridge between your ideas and your audience.
