Inside the child, it’s overload — too much noise, too many demands, too many transitions, all stacking without a pause. This is why consequences often make things worse. And honestly, that’s not usually the first step parents take when they’re trying to change their child’s emotional regulation… but it should be. As parents, we set the tone of the entire household, whether we realize it or not. Our nervous system is the foundation. The problem? Most of us were never taught how to regulate ourselves. So if you want your kids to learn emotional regulation, it starts with you: • figuring out what helps your nervous system calm • modeling it in real time • practicing it together Show your kids what to do when their bodies feel overwhelmed, dysregulated, or “too much.” That’s how regulation becomes learned, not forced. This movement taps into the brain–body connection to help shift your system out of fight-or-flight and into a calmer, more regulated state—fast. ✨ Try it ✨ Notice how your body responds ✨ Then practice it with your kids Because regulated parents raise regulated kids. Rocking child’s pose is seen in this reel: get into a child’s pose position, knees will usually be wider than the tradition pose. Place weight on your forearms and rock forward past ands and into booty. Take deeps breaths or hum while doing this movement.
