Everyone brushing their teeth extra well before going to the dentist is a common habit. It usually comes from a mix of anxiety and the desire to look good, as people try to make up for days when their oral care wasn’t perfect.
This last-minute effort often means more time spent brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash, hoping to reduce plaque or avoid a lecture from the dentist. Ironically, even though this sudden effort might make teeth look a little better, dentists can usually tell when someone has only improved their routine right before the appointment.
Still, the pre-dentist deep clean has become a shared experience. It reflects how human nature pushes us to want to make a good impression, even when a single effort can’t erase weeks or months of inconsistent care.
