ALI went from having a calendar that was a battlefield of “Urgent” voicemails and back-to-back meetings to a completely blank slate. Now, in this early retirement phase, a Wednesday dentist appointment is basically The Big Event.
This one task is the cornerstone of the entire week - from prep to the actual appointment through to recovery!😅
But really: While it’s funny how the mundane can suddenly fill a whole week, the true “win” of retirement is that it is not actually this way at all
We’ve spent decades letting other people’s priorities dictate our schedules. Now, we have the ultimate luxury: Wide open calendars. And our “Life Maintenance” chores don’t have to fill the void.
Now we do that random Tuesday morning hike. Or a spontaneous coffee date with a friend.
Even some alone time to focus on a new hobby.
The schedule is finally yours.
Follow along for more honest (and sometimes ridiculous) looks at navigating the retirement and empty nest life

We’re Peter and Sandy. We’ve loved the time we spent working full-time and raising our family. But we also looked forward to when we’d be able to switch gears and “do stuff” just for us! People warned “You’ll be so bored!” or “What will you do all day?” Nope. We’re too busy doing the things we thought we didn’t have time for before. Everything is so much more interesting now that we’ve adopted the WHY NOT? mindset!
