THTHE 5 BEST STUDY TIPS
(+ why they actually work)
There are so many study hacks online that it can get a bit overwhelming, so I’ve pulled together the 5 that have genuinely helped me the most, especially during exams. I also wanted to include why they’re useful, because when you understand why something works, you’re way more likely to stick with it.
Here are my top 5👇
1. Active recall
→ Instead of re-reading notes, I test myself: flashcards, blurting, quizzes, teaching it back.
This forces your brain to retrieve info, which strengthens memory way more than passive review.
2. Spaced repetition
→ I revisit topics a few times over a few days/weeks instead of cramming all at once.
Spacing things out makes your brain work to remember - which means you actually retain it long-term.
3. Time-blocked focus sessions
→ I give myself short windows (e.g. 45 mins), no distractions, just one task.
It stops study sessions dragging and helps me get more done in less time.
4. Teaching the content out loud
→ I explain topics to myself like I’m teaching someone else.
If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t fully understand it - this shows you where your gaps are.
5. Planning before studying
→ I plan exactly what I’m going to work on before I open my laptop.
It stops me wasting time deciding where to start and makes each session way more efficient.
