RAMY REVIEW:
To start, I received the Slades detachable skates for free a couple of weeks ago so I could test them and promote them online. That being said, I tried to keep my review as honest and unbiased as possible.
THE BREAKDOWN:
1. Locking mechanism: 4.75/5 🔐
I was pleasantly surprised by how well the locking mechanism works! I have been using the brand’s other skates, the Flaneurz, for about a year now and I honestly think the Slades are easier to use. While both skates use the same detachable skate technology, the Slades click on and off more smoothly.
2. Shoes: 4/5 👟
I really like the shoes while skating. Because they are made specifically for roller skating, my feet feel very secure in them.
However, they do hurt my feet a bit after wearing them all day as regular shoes. The hard sole required for skating makes them slightly less flexible as shoes, so I would recommend getting inserts.
3. Wheels and bearings: 1/5 🛞
I really do not like the stock wheels and bearings that come with the skates. The wheels are supposedly 80a, which would make them good for outdoor skating, but in my experience they felt pretty slippery.
The bearings are the generic, cheap bearings I’ve seen multiple brands put in their skates. I swapped them out immediately and they rolled a lot better.
4. Toe stops: 2/5 ✋🏻
Similar story to the bearings, the toe stops are pretty generic. They will stop you, though, so you don’t necessarily need to swap them out.
5. Trucks 3/5 🚙
They aren’t the most responsive. They’re alright, but I plan on swapping the cushions.
6. Convenience: 5/5 🛼
Just like the Flaneurz, the Slades detachable skates are such a gamechanger for my commute. I cannot imagine my life without detachable skates and I’m so grateful to have them.
