CH1. In 2012, an Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner did something no human had ever done before. He went to the edge of space… and jumped. To get there, he sat alone inside a small pressurized capsule, lifted by a giant helium balloon.
2. For over two hours, it carried him up to about 39 kilometers (128,000 feet) above Earth - the stratosphere. At that height, the sky was black, and the curve of the Earth was visible below. He opened the door, stood on a narrow platform and said:
“I’m going home now.” Then he stepped off.
3. He fell at over 1,300 km/h (808 mph), becoming the first human to break the sound barrier in freefall. At one point, he began spinning uncontrollably. He was seconds away from losing consciousness, but he managed to stabilize himself. After about 9 minutes, he deployed his parachute and landed safely in the New Mexico desert.
4. But later, something unimaginable happened. In July 2025, during a paragliding flight in Italy, his wing entered a spiral descent. He tried to regain control, but couldn’t. The investigation later confirmed it was human error. The man who survived the fall from space d*ed during a paragliding flight.
5. Felix survived the impossible, but underestimated the familiar. The real d@nger isn’t the unknown. It’s the moment you stop paying attention because something feels routine.
6. Think about it.
You triple-check a first date… but stop paying attention in a relationship you’ve been in for years. That’s where you lower your standards.
7. You prepare for job interviews for hours… but show up half-asleep to meetings in a role you already “have.” That’s where opportunities slip past you.
8. You’re hyper-aware with strangers… but ignore subtle d!srespect from people you’re comfortable with. That’s where your self-worth takes a hit.
Save this to remember: sometimes the most d@ngerous things look harmless.
