THI grabbed my phone to record because I honestly had no idea what was happening.
Every time his head hit the glass, his cries got louder. More desperate.
It looked like he was trying to escape.
My stomach dropped. I thought he was having a neurological episode.
In the U.S., thousands of senior dogs are surrendered every year because medical emergencies are mistaken for “bad behavior.” 🐕
Then I looked past him.
Into the backyard.
Smoke was pouring out of the crawl space beneath our guest house. 🔥
My dad was sleeping inside.
Nothing was wrong with the dog.
He wasn’t acting out.
He was trying to break through the only barrier between danger and the person he loved. ❤️
He didn’t have words, so he used his body to warn us.
Dogs don’t “go crazy.”
They’re often the first to notice when something is wrong, long before we do. ✨
