DEIn 2017, Tokyo police entered a tiny apartment in Zama, Japan. A foul smell leaked through the walls. Inside, detectives found cooler boxes stacked near the bed. When they opened them… they discovered nine severed heads and over 200 bones. The killer? Takahiro Shiraishi, a 27-year-old who hunted his victims online. He scanned Twitter for people posting about suicide — especially girls saying they wanted to die. He didn’t convince them to live. He invited them to end their life with him. When they arrived at his apartment, Shiraishi strangled them immediately. Then he dismembered their bodies, keeping their heads as trophies and discarding flesh to hide the smell. One of the victims was only 15 years old. Police caught him when the brother of a missing girl hacked into her Twitter messages and traced her last location. Shiraishi confessed calmly: “I wanted control. They didn’t resist. They wanted to die anyway.” He showed no remorse during the trial and was sentenced to death in 2021. Japan calls him one of the most chilling modern serial killers — because he turned people’s weakest moment into his perfect opportunity.
