BUMinimalism can feel like it comes with a lot of “rules,” but it doesn’t have to. My goal here is to help you create simple habits that make your space easier to manage—no perfection required. For today, here are two of my favorites:
#1 Keep cupboards and drawers only half full.
We’re a family of six, so we have six plates, six bowls, etc. If we have guests, I pull out paper plates. Bonus: way less cleanup 🤪
#2 Get rid of duplicates.
When I first decluttered the kitchen, I had three full sets of pans. I only have four burners on the stove… so I really don’t need 15 pans. I still remember my husband asking, “But what if one is dirty?” 🤦🏼♀️ He doesn’t ask that anymore.
Bonus rule (and you’ll hear this one a lot because I’m obsessed): LABEL EVERYTHING.
That way the kids can’t say they don’t know where things go. Grab a small label maker and let them help—they actually love it.
After living this way for a long time now, I can honestly say we’d never go back. No one asks for their “favorite” pan anymore or complains when something is dirty. They’re used to it now—and no more pans falling out of the cupboard.
Follow along for more minimalism content.
