Last year I noticed a new freckle under my foot and during my yearly exam, my dermatologist recommended doing a punch biopsy because it’s not common to randomly develop freckles under your foot. Two weeks later, I received a phone call, confirming that it had atypical cells. Luckily, we did a punch biopsy and now he’ll monitor the area every year at my check up to see if anything comes back. As someone who has a history of skin cancer in both sides of her family, I take my yearly check ups very seriously, and I never skip them because there is a higher likelihood my spots can turn cancerous. Prevention is key when it comes to skin cancer. Never brush it off or tell yourself it’s always been there . At the bottom of my foot is the last place I ever thought I could develop skin cancer … thank God for my Derm. #getyourskinchecked #skincancer #skincaretips #skincancerawareness #yycskincare

These are all examples of melanoma. 😳 This is not to scare you but to demonstrate that melanoma can look many different ways and can mimic benign age spots, pink scaly eczema and brown nail lines. Even after years of experience, dermatologists struggle to make a diagnosis with just a quick picture. We take into account the history, your sun exposure history and age, what it looks like on close up exam, what it looks like compared to your other skin lesions, and a biopsy. When it doubt, get it checked out. Especially when skin spots are changing over many months, growing or bleeding. Follow if you want to detect skin cancer early IB @dr.lindaxing #melanoma #skincancer #dermatologist

1. Every day I cut out skin cancers from areas that people don’t often think to protect from the sun-including eyelids, inside ears, scalp and lips. If you can’t cover these areas with sunscreen then wear broad rimmed hat, sun glasses and try to avoid sun in mid day unprotected. 2. Tanning bed users are 3x more likely to develop melanoma than non- tanning bed users 3. There’s no such thing as a “base tan” 4. Having one skin cancer in the past means vou have a 30-50% chance of having another in your lifetime 5. You can’t sun burn in the car but you CAN still get significant UVA exposure through the glass. UVA leads to skin aging and increased risk of skin cancer. #skincancer #dermatologist

🔥Once you see this… you can’t unsee it👀 Scientists tested a completely natural compound formed from ancient soil and peat — and what they observed under the microscope was remarkable. Researchers exposed human melanoma (skin cancer) cells to humic and fulvic acids, naturally occurring compounds created over thousands of years in the earth. What happened next was wild ⏱️ Within just 14 hours: 🧬 Growth signals were switched OFF ⚠️ Death signals were switched ON 💥 Cancer cells stopped multiplying and entered programmed cell death (apoptosis) The cells didn’t just slow down — they collapsed, as if the body remembered how to shut down damaged cells. And here’s the part that gave me goosebumps 👀 The same compounds also reduced the gene responsible for melanin production, meaning they supported clearer, brighter, more even-looking skin — naturally.* One compound. From the earth itself. Supporting both cellular health and skin clarity. So tell me… why isn’t this front-page news? Comment “FULVIC” if you’d like the direct link to the fulvic mineral blend I personally use. 📚 Study reference (peer-reviewed): Salehi et al., 2022 “Activation of apoptosis and G0/G1 cell cycle arrest along with inhibition of melanogenesis by humic acid and fulvic acid in A375 human melanoma cells.” 🔗 PubMed: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35656077/ Note: This is not medical advice

If any of these caught you off guard, that’s exactly why changes in your skin should always be evaluated by a dermatologist. You’re not supposed to be able to tell the difference — that’s what medical training is for. Any new, changing, or non-healing spot deserves a proper assessment. Because when it comes to skin cancer, guessing isn’t the goal — accuracy is🤝 Inspired by @dr.lindaxing #basalcellcarcinoma #healthyskin #dermatology #dermatologist

Now that I have your attention — here’s the real point. Just like you know your physical characteristics, you also know how your body normally feels. Anything that’s new, persistent, or off your baseline deserves attention. If it concerns you, don’t ignore it. These facts are associations, not causation. They reflect mild increases in risk, not guarantees. Cancer is almost never caused by one thing — it’s the result of multiple factors interacting over time. Here are a few examples of patterns we see in research: • Blue/green eyes → higher skin cancer risk (less melanin, less UV protection) PMID: 15683113 • High birth weight → higher risk of certain cancers later in life (including breast, colorectal, prostate, and some blood cancers) PMID: 17132727 • Tall women → higher ovarian cancer risk (likely related to growth factors and early hormone exposure) PMID: 20300615 • Women with excess body hair → higher ovarian/endometrial cancer risk (often reflecting androgen excess or insulin resistance) PMID: 24715540 • Alcohol flushing → higher risk of esophageal cancer Facial flushing suggests impaired alcohol metabolism, leading to higher acetaldehyde exposure — a known carcinogen. PMID: 17699815 These aren’t predictions. They’re reminders. Cancer often grows in the space between “this feels different” and “it’s probably nothing.” Know your baseline. Respect your instincts. Curiosity leads to earlier answers. Which one surprised you most? #cancerfacts #cancerprevention #healtheducation #healthtips

Talking to the younger crowd for a minute… Please wear your sunscreen. I know it feels like something you can worry about later. I thought the same thing. Now I’m dealing with skin cancer treatments that I wish I could go back and avoid. Take care of your skin now. Your future self will thank you. ☀️ #WearSunscreen #SkinCancerAwareness #SPFMatters #SunSafety #PreventSkinCancer Parents—please talk to your kids about this too.
