HEGoing to a softplay on the weekend is NEVER a good idea.
We’ve all been there.
You wake up, the cereal gets eaten.
The house is quickly trashed.
Then someone says:
“What shall we do today?”
Cinema? Nothing good on.
Farm? It’ll cost £60, and it’s raining.
Visit grandparents? Damn. They’re busy.
How about… we go to a softplay?
GREAT IDEA, you think to yourself.
Let me gently remind you now…
You. Are. WRONG.
Within 15 minutes of arriving, every square inch of that bacteria-filled colourful playpen is crawling with overstimulated, sweaty children.
Within 45 mins your child has usually cried at least once.
Screams echo through the room.
👦🏽 Kids screaming at each other.
👧🏾 Kids screaming to their parents “watch me, daddy!”
👩🏼 Parents screaming at their kids “Lucifer.. remember, we don’t pick people up by their necks, ok sweetheart?”
It’s 1.5 hours of pure unadulterated chaos.
The food and coffee is always crap - and costs a fortune.
You tell yourself you’ll be able to ‘sit and get some stuff done’ (a.k.a. doomscroll for an hour). But you’re wrong.
Now, softplay in the week? 🤔
Totally different experience.
Acceptable and encouraged.
Softplay in half term? 🧐
Forget about it.

P.S. how and why do they get SO sweaty?
