LAOur ongoing mission is to stop the rise of Organized Retail Theft throughout Los Angeles County, which has caused a drastic impact to the citizens and businesses throughout @countyofla.
The LASD Major Crimes Bureau Organized Retail Crime Task Force conducted a search warrant operation to locate and apprehend several suspects involved in retail theft. Detectives with ORCTF also conducted various surveillance operations in conjunction with businesses such as The Home Depot, which has experienced large losses due to the increase in theft.
We want to remind residents and business owners to secure their properties, be aware of suspicious and unusual persons or vehicles, and immediately alert their local law enforcement if suspicious activity occurs.

The Central Division Organized Retail Crime Task Force partnered with Fashion Fair Mall Security.
On November 30, 2024, the Central Division Organized Retail Theft Crime Task Force made 12 arrests and apprehended one suspect who was wanted for the theft of stolen purse which was recovered and returned to its owner.
The goal of the Organized Retail Crime Task Force operations is to partner with allied Law Enforcement, Security and Retail Loss Prevention personnel for the purposes of deterring theft from local retail establishments.

EL@caspeakerrivas says he’s fast tracking 7 bills to target organized retail theft. @gavinnewsom has indicated he’ll sign them & they’ll likely be law by the end of the month.
The bills make it easier to charge “serial” retail theft suspects as felonies & easier to “aggregate” several crimes for a felony prosecution.
Rivas says his focus is on this effort & he’s not currently supporting efforts to reform Prop 47 with a ballot proposition.

NETwo teens going to play handball found Theresa Cerney’s body. She was lying behind a factory on New Highway in Amityville. There was blood, and her hair was matted over her face. She seemed underdressed for the cold weather that day, recalled one of the teens, Kirk Carter. It was Thanksgiving morning, 1988.
Thirty-six years later, her killing remains unsolved.
Her family still wrestles with their unanswered questions. Worse, they say, they haven’t heard from police since the late 1980s.
Cerney’s case is one of at least 66 cases of dead women now being reviewed by Suffolk DA Ray Tierney’s new cold case unit. Another 287 cases of dead men in Suffolk are also under review.
