LOad These are my essential tips on how to paint with a darker lime wash colour. I’ve teamed up with @bauwerkcolour to show you how to maintain that texture & ensure those cloud lines look more blended. The key really is less blending for less lines. My tips explained in more detail below but also to remember the walls don’t have to look perfect it’s all about varying texture and the imperfections too 🥰
0. You will need to prep your wall with @bauwerkcolour prep coat first, and get that wall as perfect as possible. If you’ve patched up the wall before you will need to use Crown Covermatt primer before the prep coat 🤍
1. Guys please mix the paint properly from the beginning there should be no clay like pigment remaining at the bottom of the paint tub other wise your colour won’t look right & you’ll end up with thick paint at the bottom of the tub.
2. When creating that cloud shape, don’t stretch the paint so that all the pigment ends up at the end of the cloud. You are just stretching to create the cloud and it should be the same consistency throughout the cloud.
3. Blending the next cloud, you want to be lightly blending them together. And not over blending the clouds. It should only take a couple of brush strokes to blend the clouds (this will stop those visible cloud lines being created, especially with a darker colour)
4. Do not worry about brush strokes, they will fade 🥰
5. Do not go back and paint over the clouds that look like they are patchy and paint them again, just keep painting those clouds continuously across the wall. The clouds will change texture and colour as the dry (urgh I’ve done this before & then lost all the texture 🫠)
6. It will take from 45 mins - 2 hours for your first layer to dry depending on how ventilated the room is, make sure it’s fully dry guys x
7. 2nd layer just ensure you are painting new clouds not directly over the first layer of clouds. Start your cloud in the joints of 2 blended clouds.
8. The key is light brush strokes and not over blending the clouds together. The darker colour will dry and it will be less textured.
Any other questions please just ask below, I hope this helps and makes the process easier 🥰🫒
