SAThe Government of New Brunswick has signed a new four-year physician services agreement (2025–2029) with the New Brunswick Medical Society worth $270 million.
The goal? Improve access to primary health care and attract more doctors to the province.
Under the agreement, physicians will be rewarded for:
✔ Taking on more patients
✔ Providing timely appointments
✔ Participating in collaborative care clinics
The contract introduces a performance-based model, meaning physicians who attach and see more patients may receive additional funding to support their practice — including hiring staff such as nurses.
The agreement also includes:
• Structured parental leave and wellness programs for physicians
• Reviews of gender pay equity and obstetrics payment gaps
• Support for clinical teaching and nursing home coverage
Provincial leaders say the agreement is designed to strengthen the health-care system and bring more physicians to New Brunswick, helping more residents gain access to primary care.
