PMDD- pre menstrual dysphoric disorder. This is a little glimpse into what a day in my life is like during this time. It’s not pretty. This is a shift in hormones that some women get pre period, and it often sends them into depressed and anxious states. This is more prevalent in women with ADHD as our brains already don’t produce enough dopamine as is. This is something that I really struggle with. As soon as I get my cycle I’m pretty much fine, but the week before is hell for me and the people closest. I often don’t shower, I isolate, my binge and purge cycle starts again, and everything is overwhelming. This month in particular with the way of the world that the moment, I think the pressures of life is getting to me much more than normal and I am in an exceptionally tough spot. I’ve spent the last 3 days in bed. I’m still getting up to go gym and work, but everything’s at bare minimum. I’ve eaten all the food in my cupboard even though I’m not hungry, but eating helps me feel better. Life is not what you see on Instagram, PMDD is something that needs to be spoken about and recognised more because it’s really isolating and there’s not much information around it. You never ever know what someone’s dealing with, so always approach everything you do with kindness. It goes a long way. #pmdd #pmddawareness #adhd #psychology
