The Lawton Police Department, Lawton Fire Department, and Comanche Nation Police Department came together for the annual Special Olympics Torch Run. Participants ran just over 3 miles, carrying the torch from the Lawton Public Safety Facility to MacArthur High School. This event grows bigger every year, and it shows how strong our community is when we work together for something bigger than ourselves. We are thankful for the men and women who serve our community and give their time to support this great cause. Thank you to everyone who came out to run and show support. 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐋𝐀𝐖 𝐄𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐇 𝐑𝐔𝐍 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎🔥 Join the Clay County Sheriff’s Office as we host the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics Florida on Friday, March 27 at 10:00 a.m. The Law Enforcement Torch Run brings together law enforcement agencies around the world to champion acceptance, inclusion, and opportunity for individuals with intellectual disabilities. To participate, all you need to do is purchase a 2026 LETR shirt! Cotton and dry-fit shirts are $25 and they’re available for sale the morning of the run, on a first come, first serve basis, at 321 Old Hard Rd. (Plantation Sports Complex.) We will meet there and 𝑻𝑯𝑬𝑵 you will be shuttled to the starting line located at the Publix in Hibernia. All proceeds collected from t-shirt sales will benefit Clay County Special Olympics Florida Athletes! If you can’t participate, please feel free to line our route and cheer on our participants, Special Olympics Athletes and partners! 𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐄: • Start at Hibernia Publix • Cross Highway 17 from Publix to the Black Creek Bike Trail • Travel north on the Black Creek Bike Trail to Village Square Parkway • Continue northwest on Village Square Parkway to Town Center Blvd • Turn and travel south on Town Center Blvd to Old Hard Rd • Head northwest on Old Hard Rd to the Plantation Sports Complex If you are an individual or business leader who would like to make a donation to Clay County Special Olympics, please contact Lt. Spending time with the athletes who are at the heart of this movement is always the highlight.
