THAs someone who takes a lot of pics every month (read 1000s), I was heartbroken 💔 when Google stopped their free storage.
After contemplating several storage options, most of which were paid, I now have a custom built NAS server at home with 16TB of storage.
With the help of several open source softwares, it is basically a google photos clone on my phone and I’m ecstatic!
This means I can:
1. Back up my photos automatically on WiFI.
2. Share photos as albums with friends and family.
3. Best of all, be able to view photos based on people. (a separate open source software for this).
Some open source softwares require payment if you want premium features but you have a lot of options to customize it according to your preferences.

BAUnraid ist nichts für Anfänger!
Unraid ist ein mächtiges NAS- und Homelab-System, aber definitiv nicht einsteigerfreundlich. Selbst erfahrene Windows-User stehen beim ersten Kontakt oft wie der Ochse vorm Berg und müssen sich erst mühsam einarbeiten.
