60Thinking about buying an extended warranty? Read this first.
Most people assume everything will be covered… but that’s not how it works.
Step 1: Get a pre-purchase inspection from a shop that specializes in that brand. If the vehicle already has issues before the warranty starts, those repairs will NOT be covered. A generic inspection isn’t enough. You need a shop that knows exactly what to look for.
Step 2: Research the warranty company. Check Google reviews, Better Business Bureau, and real customer experiences. Not all warranty companies are the same.
Step 3: Understand what’s actually covered. Don’t rely on what the salesperson tells you. Read the contract and know the exclusions.
Step 4: Know the contract price and payout limits. Some warranties are so cheap because they only pay out up to what you paid for the contract. At that point, it’s basically just a forced savings account.
Skip these steps and that “warranty” could cost you thousands in out of pocket repairs.
