Vision Direct proved that you don't need a million-dollar budget. You just need a dog with bad eyesight. I found the Vision Direct "A Pug's Christmas" commercial (2015). The Hero: Meet Gizmo. He is a pug. The Problem: Gizmo is nearly blind. He sits in front of the Christmas tree, but he is facing the wrong way (staring at a wall). He runs to greet his owner and smashes face-first into the glass door. He barks aggressively at a winter hat on the floor because he thinks it's a cat. The Solution: His owner orders from Vision Direct. The Reveal: On Christmas morning, Gizmo wakes up. He is wearing custom pug-sized glasses. The Joy: Suddenly, the world is in HD. He sees the tree. He sees the presents. He looks at his owner with pure love. Tagline: "Save on contact lenses and eye care." The "Inside Scoop" The Star: Gizmo was a real show-dog. The glasses were held on by a very thin elastic strap that was edited out in post-production. The Sequel: The ad was so popular that Gizmo returned in 2016 for a sequel called "Gizmo Saves Christmas," where he enters a turf war with a neighborhood cat named Cuddles. The Strategy: This was Vision Direct's first-ever TV ad. They knew they couldn't compete with John Lewis on budget, so they competed on "cute factor." It worked—sales jumped 45%.  I had two choices: disappear… or create from a different place. So I sat in my room — sick, in pain, unsure if anyone would care —

They automatically adjust to the light, so I’m comfortable whether I’m jumping puddles or soaking up the sunshine. I pulled out some of my favorite frames from the cupboard—I’ve got quite the collection! Just like these, I love switching up my specs depending on the day. These ones are no lenses, so no wonder I couldn’t see much! Sent them off to @visiondirect_au to be re-glazed with my new prescription. Now they look as good as new, and I can enjoy clear, smudge-resistant vision in style. Here’s a little clip of the walk and a peek at my frames—matching my outfit nearly perfectly!
