LIYesterday marked 33 years since this tragedy 💙
On February 26, 1993, at 12:17 pm, a terrorist truck bomb detonated in the underground parking garage beneath the North Tower of the World Trade Center NYC. The explosion killed six people, injured more than 1,000 others, and caused extensive damage across multiple underground levels. Smoke filled stairwells, power was knocked out, and tens of thousands were forced to evacuate the towers in near total darkness.
The attack was intended to collapse the North Tower into the South Tower, but the buildings remained standing. Still, the 1993 bombing marked a pivotal moment in U.S. history, exposing serious security vulnerabilities and serving as a tragic warning of the larger attacks that would follow eight years later.
Today, the site stands as a place of remembrance and resilience, honoring the victims and reflecting the enduring strength of New York City!
