TYJust. Unbelievable. A couple shared this video with me — showing their home in Deming, WA, as it was uprooted and swept away by the Nooksack River in Whatcom County on Thursday.
“We never thought the river would take the house!” the woman told me over text.
The Nooksack crested at a record-high 150.49 ft around 3 am on Thursday, according to the National Water Prediction Service’s gauge in North Cedarville, which is 7 miles west of this neighborhood.
The original homeowner, the boyfriend — has owned the house there for the last 20 years, which had survived previous floods, even one that left lots of damage in 2015. But now, the river has claimed it all.
That GoFunMe has raised over $28,000 in the last 24 hours, to help the family after losing everything. https://gofund.me/f6704249c
